What is the Nike HireVue interview like?
Nike uses HireVue for corporate internships, and some seasonal store candidates report it too. Intern candidates report video questions plus some written answers, with 30 seconds to 2 minutes to think and one re-record per video answer. Some internships add short logic and attitude games.
Nike publishes five Maxims: serve athletes, create the future of sport, be on the offense always, do the right thing, and win as a team. The reported questions ask why Nike, how you adapt to change, and how you work toward a team goal. This page has those questions, what each one tests, and a worked answer.

What does Nike look for in a HireVue interview?
Nike's published Maxims are serve athletes, create the future of sport, be on the offense always, do the right thing, and win as a team. Nike says agility is its edge, and the reported questions ask about change and teamwork more than any other theme.
- Adapting to change. A big change you handled, with what you did first.
- Teamwork. Joining a team and helping it reach one shared goal.
- Building relationships. Earning someone's trust to get a better result.
- Planning ahead. Something you prepared for over a month or more.
- Brand knowledge. A real view on Nike, Jordan, and Converse, tied to your skills.
Build one story for each line above. Every question below is asking for one of them.

What does a strong Nike HireVue answer sound like?
Question: "Tell me about a time a big change happened and you had to adapt."
"In my junior year, I was treasurer of my school's running club. Two weeks before our biggest race, the school moved all club money to a new online system. Our old paper forms stopped working, and we still had to pay for buses for 45 runners. I read the new system's guide that night and booked a call with the finance office the next day. I learned we needed three price quotes before any payment. I got the quotes in two days and set up a shared sheet so our president could see every step. We paid for the buses a week before the race, and no one missed it. I also wrote a one-page guide, and the next treasurer still uses it. When things change fast, I learn the new rules right away and make the next step clear for everyone."
Why it scores: A real change, a hard deadline, quick action, and numbers. It shows the be on the offense always maxim. About 60 seconds spoken.
How do you prepare for the Nike HireVue in three days?
Specific to Nike:
- Decide ahead of time when you will use your one re-record. Save it for losing your place or running out of time.
- Know all three brands. Candidates report a question that asks you to rank Nike, Jordan, and Converse and explain why.
- Tie your answer to why Nike to the team you want to join and what you would bring. Saying you love the shoes is not enough.
For any HireVue:
- Day 1. Write one story per competency in the list above. Two or three sentences each: the situation, what you decided, what happened.
- Day 2. Say each story out loud on a two-minute timer. Most people run long the first time. Cut until each one ends on the result with time to spare.
- Day 3. Run the reported questions cold, in one sitting, no notes. Then set up the room: quiet, camera at eye level, light on your face, wired internet if you have it.
The full setup checklist and a five-day version of this plan are in the free HireVue practice guide.
After you submit, results often take a week or more. Here is how to follow up after an interview if the window passes, and a salary negotiation email for when the offer comes. Applying for a move up where you already work? See promotion interview questions.
