What is the Keurig Dr Pepper HireVue interview like?
Keurig Dr Pepper uses HireVue as the first round for many internships and early-career roles, and candidates report it for some sales roles too. Candidates report 5 to 6 questions, about 1 minute to prepare, and up to 3 minutes to answer. Several report up to 3 attempts per question.
HireVue named KDP a winner of its 2023 Impact Star Award. Prep guides report the questions are built on KDP's four values: team first, deliver big, think bold, and be fearless and fair. Reported questions ask about beating expectations, delivering bad news, and owning a project on your own. This page lists those questions, what each one tests, and a worked answer.
| Questions | 5 to 6 |
|---|---|
| Time to think | about 1 minute |
| Time to answer | up to 3 minutes |
| Retakes | up to 3 attempts per question in several reports |
| When it comes | after the resume screen and before the hiring manager interview |
| Who gets it | summer internships, early-career roles, and some sales roles |

What does Keurig Dr Pepper look for in a HireVue interview?
KDP publishes four values: team first (win together), deliver big (achieve our commitments, then push beyond the expected), think bold (challenge the usual), and be fearless and fair (tell the truth with courage, listen and act with respect). The reported question about delivering bad news maps to fearless and fair.
- Team first. A time you put the group's win ahead of your own credit.
- Deliver big. A goal you hit and then pushed past, with a number.
- Think bold. A time you tried something new to solve a problem.
- Fearless and fair. A time you told someone a hard truth with respect.
- Ownership. A project you carried from start to finish on your own.
Build one story for each line above. Every question below is asking for one of them.

What does a strong Keurig Dr Pepper HireVue answer sound like?
Question: "Describe a time you had to deliver bad news to someone."
"Last summer I interned on the operations team at a regional food distributor. I owned the weekly fill-rate report for our five biggest grocery customers. In week six I found a mistake in my own report. I had counted backorders as shipped, so one customer's fill rate looked like 97 percent when it was really 89 percent. That customer was about to get a renewal offer based on my number. I went to my manager the same morning, showed her the error and the corrected numbers, and said I wanted to tell the account manager myself. We called him together that afternoon. He was not happy, but he had time to fix the offer before it went out. I rebuilt the report with a check that flags backorders, and the next six weeks of reports went out with no errors. I learned that bad news gets smaller when you deliver it early and bring the fix with it."
Why it scores: It names the mistake and the real number, shows the candidate delivered the news early and in person, and ends with a fix that held. That maps to KDP's fearless and fair value. About 60 seconds spoken.
How do you prepare for the Keurig Dr Pepper HireVue in three days?
Specific to Keurig Dr Pepper:
- Build one story for each of the four values. Prep guides report the questions are written around them.
- If you applied to a marketing role, have a trend ready. One intern candidate was asked about a current trend the marketing team should know. Pick one beverage or coffee trend and say what KDP could do with it.
- Use your retakes on purpose. Several candidates report up to 3 attempts. Watch your first take, fix one thing, and move on.
For any HireVue:
- Day 1. Write one story per competency in the list above. Two or three sentences each: the situation, what you decided, what happened.
- Day 2. Say each story out loud on a two-minute timer. Most people run long the first time. Cut until each one ends on the result with time to spare.
- Day 3. Run the reported questions cold, in one sitting, no notes. Then set up the room: quiet, camera at eye level, light on your face, wired internet if you have it.
The full setup checklist and a five-day version of this plan are in the free HireVue practice guide.
After you submit, results often take a week or more. Here is how to follow up after an interview if the window passes, and a salary negotiation email for when the offer comes. Applying for a move up where you already work? See promotion interview questions.
