Background

About the cohort

Three things to know before the numbers: who the customer is, why they needed the platform, and what the deployment looked like.

The organization

A national IT workforce development nonprofit. No-cost training in help desk, sysadmin, networking, and cybersecurity, funded by WIOA-aligned dollars, philanthropy, and corporate hiring partners.

The challenge

A coach giving 1:1 mock interviews delivers 4 to 6 sessions per day. A 30-person cohort needing 8 to 10 reps each consumes 6 to 8 weeks of one full-time coach. Most programs cannot dedicate that, so participants typically leave with 1 or 2 sessions.

The deployment

Onboarded in March 2026. The platform delivered behavioral, technical, and situational mock interviews on demand, with AI scoring on five communication dimensions after every session.

What this would have cost without the platform

To produce the same 245 sessions and rubric-scored feedback through staff time:

These figures assume a coach is available across the full 9-week window and a consistent rubric is applied by hand across more than 200 sessions. In practice, most workforce programs do not offer 8 to 10 mock interviews per participant because the staffing math does not work.

Scaling

How the math works across pricing tiers

Extending the per-session benchmarks to multiple cohorts and to year-round programs. Volume assumes the same 8.4 sessions per active participant pattern observed in this cohort.

Manual-cost figures scale linearly with volume. Most programs do not actually pay these amounts because manual delivery at this scale is infeasible. They offer less practice instead. The platform's value is delivering the volume that would otherwise not exist.

Consistency

Same rubric on every session

Five communication dimensions, scored 1 to 5 on a published rubric the platform applies to every session. Levels: 1 Emerging, 2 Developing, 3 Competent, 4 Proficient, 5 Master. On a percentage scale, each level is 20 points.

Clarity

Coherent, well-structured responses that follow a logical framework like STAR (Situation, Task, Action, Result). Rambling or circular answers are penalized.

Confidence

Speaking with conviction and authority. Owning experiences rather than hedging with vague language.

Pacing

Appropriately concise. Prioritizing the most important details without dragging or rushing.

Engagement

Connecting with the interviewer. Reading the room and adapting rather than delivering a rehearsed monologue.

Persuasiveness

Demonstrating value with specific past experience, concrete evidence, and the connection between outcome and employer value.

Validated readiness

Where the cohort exited at program end

Average mastery across the cohort by program end. Confidence and Persuasiveness reached Proficient, the second-highest mastery tier.

Individual outcomes

Top improvers in the cohort

Improvement is measured by comparing each participant's first-half sessions against their second-half sessions, using the same scoring formula at both ends.

+97%

Top improver

The top improver nearly doubled their session score, moving from the Emerging level into Competent territory.

+17%

Second

A second participant raised their score by 17 percent across additional practice.

+9–10%

Three more

Three more participants, each already starting in the upper half of the rubric scale, posted measurable gains while polishing already-strong skills.

Managers see every participant's path in the cohort dashboard, so coaching time flows to whoever needs it most.

The takeaway

Scale, consistency, and validated readiness in one cohort

29 active participants completed 245 mock interviews in 9 weeks. Every session scored on the same rubric. The cohort exited at Proficient-level Confidence and Persuasiveness, with five participants posting individual gains of 9 percent or more.

Delivering the same volume through staff time would cost $9,200 to $24,500 and consume weeks of a coach's calendar. The platform produced the practice, the consistent assessment, and the funder-ready data without adding staff.
