What welding employers look for on a resume
Welding jobs are in fabrication shops, construction sites, shipyards, and manufacturing plants. Hiring managers scan for three things first:
- Your credentials, near the top. AWS certified welder, AWS D1.1 structural certification, 6G pipe certification. List each one you hold, and training you are finishing with the expected date.
- Work that shows the job. Lines like "Welded with MIG (GMAW)" or "Welded with stick (SMAW)". Past jobs in other fields count when you show the same habits: reliability, care, safety, and teamwork.
- The skills they search for. MIG welding, Stick welding, TIG welding, Flux-core welding, Blueprint reading. The builder lets you tap the ones you have.
Still need training? WIOA can pay for it: see WIOA funding for welding training.
