What IT support employers look for on a resume
IT support jobs are in help desks, school districts, hospitals, and managed service providers. Hiring managers scan for three things first:
- Your credentials, near the top. CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, Google IT Support Certificate. List each one you hold, and training you are finishing with the expected date.
- Work that shows the job. Lines like "Answered help desk tickets by phone, chat, and email" or "Reset passwords and unlocked accounts". Past jobs in other fields count when you show the same habits: reliability, care, safety, and teamwork.
- The skills they search for. Help desk support, Windows, Microsoft 365, Active Directory, Hardware troubleshooting. The builder lets you tap the ones you have.
When you get the call, practice the IT support interview questions. Still need training? WIOA can pay for it: see WIOA funding for IT support training.
