What HVAC employers look for on a resume
HVAC jobs are in HVAC contractors, property management companies, and commercial buildings. Hiring managers scan for three things first:
- Your credentials, near the top. EPA 608 Universal, EPA 608 Type I, EPA 608 Type II. List each one you hold, and training you are finishing with the expected date.
- Work that shows the job. Lines like "Installed heating and cooling systems" or "Diagnosed and repaired HVAC equipment". Past jobs in other fields count when you show the same habits: reliability, care, safety, and teamwork.
- The skills they search for. HVAC installation, Troubleshooting, Refrigerant handling, Preventive maintenance, Electrical basics. The builder lets you tap the ones you have.
When you get the call, practice the HVAC interview questions. Still need training? WIOA can pay for it: see WIOA funding for HVAC training.
