What electrician employers look for on a resume
Electrician jobs are in electrical contractors, construction sites, and maintenance departments. Hiring managers scan for three things first:
- Your credentials, near the top. OSHA 10, OSHA 30, Registered apprentice. List each one you hold, and training you are finishing with the expected date.
- Work that shows the job. Lines like "Pulled wire and ran conduit" or "Installed outlets, switches, and lights". Past jobs in other fields count when you show the same habits: reliability, care, safety, and teamwork.
- The skills they search for. Wire pulling, Conduit bending, Blueprint reading, National Electrical Code basics, Multimeter use. The builder lets you tap the ones you have.
When you get the call, practice the electrician interview questions. Still need training? WIOA can pay for it: see WIOA funding for electrician training.
