What early childhood employers look for on a resume
Early childhood jobs are in child care centers, Head Start programs, preschools, and family child care homes. Hiring managers scan for three things first:
- Your credentials, near the top. CDA credential, Pediatric CPR and First Aid, State child care training hours. List each one you hold, and training you are finishing with the expected date.
- Work that shows the job. Lines like "Planned and led daily activities for young children" or "Supervised children indoors and outdoors". Past jobs in other fields count when you show the same habits: reliability, care, safety, and teamwork.
- The skills they search for. Lesson planning, Child supervision, Classroom management, Child development, Parent communication. The builder lets you tap the ones you have.
When you get the call, practice the early childhood interview questions. Still need training? WIOA can pay for it: see WIOA funding for early childhood training.
