What auto tech employers look for on a resume
Auto tech jobs are in dealerships, repair shops, fleet garages, and quick lube shops. Hiring managers scan for three things first:
- Your credentials, near the top. ASE certification, ASE student certification, EPA 609. List each one you hold, and training you are finishing with the expected date.
- Work that shows the job. Lines like "Did oil changes, tire rotations, and inspections" or "Replaced brakes, rotors, and suspension parts". Past jobs in other fields count when you show the same habits: reliability, care, safety, and teamwork.
- The skills they search for. Brakes and suspension, Diagnostics and scan tools, Engine repair, Electrical systems, Preventive maintenance. The builder lets you tap the ones you have.
