What medical billing employers look for on a resume
Medical billing jobs are in doctor offices, hospitals, billing companies, and remote teams. Hiring managers scan for three things first:
- Your credentials, near the top. CPC (AAPC), CPB (AAPC), CCA (AHIMA). List each one you hold, and training you are finishing with the expected date.
- Work that shows the job. Lines like "Assigned ICD-10 and CPT codes from patient records" or "Entered charges and submitted insurance claims". Past jobs in other fields count when you show the same habits: reliability, care, safety, and teamwork.
- The skills they search for. ICD-10-CM, CPT and HCPCS, Claims submission, Denial follow-up, Payment posting. The builder lets you tap the ones you have.
When you get the call, practice the medical billing interview questions. Still need training? WIOA can pay for it: see WIOA funding for medical billing training.
