Who qualifies for a WIOA early childhood education grant in Utah?
- Adult program: 18 or older, able to work legally, and signed up for Selective Service if that applies to you. Training money goes first to people on public assistance, people with low income, and people who need basic skills. Veterans and eligible spouses go ahead of others in every program.
- Dislocated Worker program: laid off or given notice, on unemployment or ran out of it, or formerly self-employed.
- Youth program: 16 to 24 and out of school, or in school and low income.
Every state requires a fingerprint background check to work in licensed childcare, and abuse, neglect, and violent convictions are permanent bars. A high school diploma or GED is required for the CDA. You need a childcare job or practicum to accrue the 480 experience hours; many centers hire trainees.
