How many applications people send before an offer
Huntr tracks applications its users log. These are its numbers, from people who lean toward office and tech jobs, so treat them as one app's data, not every job seeker's.
The tailoring numbers are a link, not proof that tailoring causes interviews. Huntr says the gap gets much smaller when it compares the same person's tailored and untailored applications.
| What Huntr found | Number |
|---|---|
| Interview rate with a tailored resume (Oct. 2024 to June 2026) | 5.71% |
| Interview rate without one (same period) | 3.09% |
| Offers that came within the first 30 applications (2025) | About 38% |
| Needed 11 to 20 applications (2025) | About 16% |
| Sent more than 100 applications before an offer (2025) | Nearly 1 in 5 |
| Applications a typical user sends a week (2025) | About 16 |

How many to send a day or a week
In Huntr's Q2 2026 data, people who sent 11 to 20 applications got interviews at 8.12% per application, against 2.86% for those who sent 100 or more. Huntr says this does not show that sending fewer applications helps. One reason: people who get interviews early often stop applying, so their counts stay low.
Applying to the same company 8 or more times went with a 1.85% interview rate, against 6.14% for applying there once.
One way to keep quality up: send only as many applications a day as you can tailor to each posting.

Capstone Careers finds openings near you every morning, writes your resume for each job from what you have really done, and fills in the application. Each application gets its own resume, so the volume does not cost you the tailoring. See how Capstone Careers works, or see openings near you.
