The weekly work search rule in Alaska
2 work search activities for each week you claim if you live in Alaska within 55 road miles of a job center, or live in another state, Canada, Puerto Rico or the Virgin Islands. 1 activity if you live more than 55 road miles from the nearest job center in rural Alaska. The rule starts with the week you file your claim.
Report your work searches when you file your claim for each week. For each one, give the date, the employer's name, how you contacted them, and the employer's phone, address, website or email.
File and certify on the Alaska Department of Labor and Workforce Development site. The rules can change, so check DOLWD's work search page if a letter from them says something different.

What counts as a work search activity in Alaska
Alaska Department of Labor and Workforce Development lists these:
- Contacting an employer or a person with the right to hire, by phone, email or in person
- Reviewing an employer's job postings or website
- Visiting a job center for a reemployment service or career workshop
- Going to a job interview
- Similar high-engagement activity
Keep your work search log free
Write down each activity the day you do it: the date, the employer, how you contacted them, the job, and what happened. If the state asks to see your search, the log is your proof.
The free work search log in Capstone Careers keeps it for you: each application you send through Capstone Careers goes on it by itself, you add the ones you do elsewhere, and you can save the week as a PDF.
