The weekly work search rule in Alabama
At least 3 work search contacts each week you file a weekly certification, unless you have been told you do not need to search for work. Alabama law has required this since January 1, 2023. Log in to AlabamaWorks or visit an Alabama Career Center at least once a week to log your work search activities.
Report your 3 work search contacts each week when you file your weekly certification, online in the Claimant Portal or by phone.
File and certify on the Alabama Department of Workforce site. The rules can change, so check Alabama Department of Workforce's work search page if a letter from them says something different.

Who does not have to search for work in Alabama
You must look for work unless the agency has told you the work search requirement is waived.
Keep your work search log free
Write down each activity the day you do it: the date, the employer, how you contacted them, the job, and what happened. If the state asks to see your search, the log is your proof.
The free work search log in Capstone Careers keeps it for you: each application you send through Capstone Careers goes on it by itself, you add the ones you do elsewhere, and you can save the week as a PDF.
