The weekly work search rule in South Carolina
At least 2 job searches each week you file a weekly certification, done while logged into your SC Works Online Services (SCWOS) account. By state law, only job searches done through SCWOS count. Start in the same week you file your claim.
Do your 2 job searches inside SCWOS (the website or the SC Works app) by opening job postings while logged in. SCWOS sends them to your MyBenefits claim each night. The next business day you can check for an "SC Work Search Confirmation" in MyBenefits under Confirmation History. Then certify your week in MyBenefits.
File and certify on the South Carolina Department of Employment and Workforce site. The rules can change, so check DEW's work search page if a letter from them says something different.

What counts as a work search activity in South Carolina
South Carolina Department of Employment and Workforce lists these:
- Job searches done in SC Works Online Services (SCWOS) while logged in, such as opening a job posting to see its details
Who does not have to search for work in South Carolina
If your employer files your claim for you (an Employer Filed Claim), you do not need to do the two weekly work searches. Employers can file for only six weeks; after that you file your own claim and must do the searches. You must look for work each week unless DEW tells you otherwise.
Keep your work search log free
Write down each activity the day you do it: the date, the employer, how you contacted them, the job, and what happened. If the state asks to see your search, the log is your proof.
The free work search log in Capstone Careers keeps it for you: each application you send through Capstone Careers goes on it by itself, you add the ones you do elsewhere, and you can save the week as a PDF.
